Oliver Kiel, co-owner, has
a long history of cycling beginning when he fell off his
bike at age 5 in his homeland of Germany. Over the years,
Oliver's accomplishments have included riding as a team
member of the German Postal Service, as well as completing
numerous short and Ironman distance races. In 1997, he
traveled to the Big Island of Hawaii to compete in the Ultraman World Championship, finishing 4th. Shortly
thereafter, Oliver moved to the Big Island to continue his
training and explore his love of the island.

Julia Kiel, co-owner, grew up in the cold splendor of New
England and moved to Hawaii to enjoy the warm tropical
beauty that the island has to offer. An astute business
woman, she had owned several businesses before meeting
Oliver in 1999 and continues to be the business brains
behind the scene today.
After marrying in 2002, Julia and Oliver combined their
expertise to create Orchid Isle Bicycling, a tour company
that offers everything from half-day rides to
Around-the-Island expeditions, with the best technical
support, extraordinary planning and routes and thoughtful
aloha.
Their next enterprise was to add one more unique service for
cycling enthusiasts - Cycle Station, a full service bike
shop in Hawaii. Both businesses merge the experiences of
Oliver and Julia to make cycling in paradise inviting to
people of many backgrounds, from beginner to racer. For this
reason, their enterprises continue to grow as customers
discover Orchid Isle Bicycling and Cycle Station with Oliver
and Julia Kiel.
